Wrangell Narrows

Sunshine when we awoke this morning although it didn’t last long. We left  Wrangell at 10AM and arrived at the south end of the channel to Petersburg around noon. The channel, called Wrangell Narrows, is roughly 21 miles from Sumner Strait in the south to Petersburg at the north end and has about 60 navigational markers (buoys, beacons, lights, ranges etc). It is also called “Christmas Tree lane” for all the red and green lights.
Today's cruise
It is narrow and twisting but well marked so as long as you pay attention it is no problem. Of course we didn't meet any ferries or barges during our transit.
It started raining just as we entered the narrow part of the channel and poured till after we were docked at Petersburg. After that it brightened up again and this evening is sunny again but punctuated by fairly heavy passing showers
Will stay here for 2 nights so we can tour the town tomorrow but here are some first impressions.
