More Cruise ships

Stephens Passage, which runs Northward from Frederick Sound to Juneau should be called cruise ship alley. Between Tracy Arm and the city of Juneau they must see up to a dozen cruise ships a day sometimes.
"Westerdam" and "Zaandam" bound for Juneau

Flat calm and sunshine in Stephens Passage
We left tha anchorage around 9:30 AM and the sunshine was a pleasant change from the last week of rain. There was absolutely no wind and the water was calm as a millpond all the way to Juneau.
There are a couple of harbours in downtown Juneau among the cruise ships but they are older and very crowded so we choose to go to Auke Bay which is basically a suburb of Juneau but with a marina more suited to our type of boat. It is a few miles North of Juneau and on a more direct route to Glacier Bay.
Mendenhall Glacier
Approaching Auke Bay you get a magnificent view of Mendenhall Glacier. Juneau is certainly the only state capital with a glacier within the city limits.
