Petersburg

Another mostly rainy day, they get over 100 inches annually in Petersburg.

We wandered around town after lunch for a while, it was raining at first but did brighten up a little after a while. This is a serious commercial fishing town, no cruise ships here, just a working town of around 3000 population making their living mostly from the sea and tourism.

View from the Harbor

Must be a crab fishing opening coming up, they have been loading crab pots non stop since we got here but the boats are still in the harbor

They take their Norwegian heritage seriously here.

Main Street, Petersburg, not much here!

Harbor area at low tide

Cute house on main street

This is a Tidal grid for working on the underside of boats, you park on top of it at high tide and have a few hours to do your work before the next high tide

Our boat doesn't look so big here among the working boats
There are several canneries but , like everywhere else in America, they import Mexicans to do the dirty work.

Will leave here tomorrow for Tracy Arm which is between here and  Juneau.
