Engine alarm

Raining again this morning.

We were all set to leave at 8AM, started the engines, unhooked and stowed the shore power cable, all electronics up and running, untied the boat and jumped back aboard. Just then, untied and  ready to back out of the slip, the  #$%^&* port engine alarm started buzzing like crazy. AGAIN!!

So jumped back ashore, retied , reconnected shore power and called the harbormaster to stay another day. We then did the rounds of the engine parts stores but apparently nobody in Alaska has much use for MAN diesels and since the crab season starts tomorrow, all the mechanics are busy anyway.

After various discussions with various people, parts store guys, fishermen and a call to the yard in Anacortes, we decided that it had to be a faulty switch on the engine. Napa Auto parts had a similar switch so we changed it out and it appears that the problem is solved , for now.

Time will tell !!
